Good memories are almost too much for me

It is hard to underestimate just how much I miss those times when we would just go out and do crazy things. Bringing back old memories is almost more than I can bear. The sense of loss at not doing things completely insane (other than getting married and having children of course)is more than I can bear. I still seek out the occational insanity - Climbing up mount Stuart, up the cliffs in front, accompanied by nine children, through impenetrable scrub, in the *dark*, without any torches, without any mobile phones (walkie-talkie though). These are just occasional blips that take me back to what real adventure is - camping without taking food, moving non-stop for 24 hours, braving rapids with no protection, climbing up unknown cliffs with no ropes etc.

Sand or what?

Keep doing those insane things, Sandor! The world gets more tame and timid day by day, and it is up to people like you to infuse it with vigour and excitement. I am also exceedingly pleased that you have stayed so convincingly married for all these years! It has been distressing how many of my friends and acquaintances of an evangelical stripe- which are admittedly the only ones who tended to be married at all- have fallen by the wayside despite their conviction.

Speaking of rewards, I got a handwritten "You are the best dad in the world" reward from my kids!

Well, actually, I didn't. But I'm hoping to get one for father's day!
